Mazda MX5 / Miata
The MX5 or Miata is the Daddy of the modern convertible. Back in the 1980's the convertible market had lost it's way and almost completely dried up. In 1989 Mazda created a new car based on the principles of the 1960's sports car; a simple vehicle which is stylish and fun to drive but also affordable. It was an enormous hit and it is still the rule by which all other roadsters are judged. Mazda's latest incarnation has the option of a beautifully simple folding hardtop which neither ruins the pretty lines of the car or blunts performance but does add around (GBP) £2000 to the list price.
In 2009 The MX5 Miata received cosmetic updates including the latest Mazda family grinning front grill.
