Ford Focus Coupe Convertible

Ford Focus Convertible

Ford have have released the first pictures of it's much rumoured Focus Coupe Convertible. It will be on display at the British International Motor Show in London next month and the first cars will be hitting the streets in October. Just when the rest of us will be putting our roofs up...

Fortunately Ford claim that it is equally as capable with it's metal folding roof up although we are yet to see pictures of it in winter mode. The design should look good as Ford have worked closely with Italian styling house Pininfarina who are usually more associated with exotics such as Ferraris.

Practicality is boasted to be class leading with two ample rear seats and plenty of luggage space.

Engines will be as the other models in the range and the price is expected to compete closely with the Astra Twintop Convertible.

Mazda MX5 Roadster Coupe

Mazda MX5 Roadster Coupe

Mazda has chosen the British International Motor Show to show off it's latest version of the classic MX5. For the first time the MX5 will be available with a folding hardtop roof similar to the Mercedes SLK.

Unlike the SLK though, the roof will fold into a vertical space behind the driver allowing for much more boot space.

The new model has surprised many of those in the industry as the MX5 has always been regarded as a 'no frills' sports car. However, the success of the Peugeot 206 and 306 cc models have proved that an affordable hard-top convertible is a popular option.

The British International Motor Show runs from the 19th - 30th July at the ExCel exhibition centre in London.

Volvo launch a diesel C70

Volvo C70

Following in Audi and BMW's footsteps Volvo has launched a diesel version of their C70 coupe/convertible. The diesel engine gives respectable performance figures of 0-62mph in 8.8 seconds, while giving 38.7miles per gallon fuel economy.

Branded the C70 D5, it will start at £29,420 for the Sport model, with SE and SE Lux versions costing £30,670 and £33,170 respectively. It will be available with an automatic gearbox only although a six speed manual will follow later in the year.

This model is clearly aimed at the corporate sector in an attempt to combine practicality with sports car style. Volvo expect it to be popular with company car buyers and expect the diesel models to make up a third of all sales.

In general the C70 is a very impressive car but some drivers have found it less inspiring on the road. We look forward to test driving this car soon to give you the full story.

Each car will be built to order and will feature the production number stitched into the headrests and a certificate of authenticity signed by the Chairman of Toyota GB. The TF300 will also feature a unique leather and Alcantara interior and stainless steel twin sports exhaust pipes.
