As of today the first reservations are being made in Japan for the the new Mazda MX-5 Roadster. The Japanese two-seater is 25 years old and in sales terms is the most successful sports car ever. But if the recipe is unchanged why do we think that it will be such a big success?

Mazda have Fiat Group (the owners of the Alfa Romeo brand) have signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding that the platform of the next generation Mazda MX-5 Miata will be used for the development and manufacture of roadsters by both Mazda and Alfa Romeo brands. Mazda and Fiat have also agreed to discuss further opportunities for co-operation in Europe.
