Harley Earl is one of the great icons of the car industry and perhaps the most influential person in American car design. He had a ground-breaking ability to understand the power of aspirational car design.

In what appears to be a blunder on the website of model car manufacturer Maisto, images of the yet to be released drop-top C7 Corvette Stingray Convertible were published a little too early. The model car maker was likely to have been given the secret pictures at an earlier date so that they could plan production of models to co-incide with the real cars launch.

Marking 60 years of the classic Corvette Convertible the Chevrolet Corvette 427 Convertible Collector Edition is the best performing convertible car in the brand’s history. Not only that but it is also this the final climax of the C6 generation of the Corvette which is to be replaced with an all new model in 2013.

Since TVR’s factory closure there has been many suggestions and rumours of the firm getting going again. Initially production was to be moved to Eastern Europe to cut production costs however the latest story is that German company Gullwing will be building the new cars.
