McLaren’s latest car is a convertible version of the 650S, itself launched just a few weeks ago. First shown in public at the Geneva Motor Show the McLaren 650S Spider is clearly influenced in design by the P1 hypercar.

GM appear to be trying to fill all the niche markets with one car as they launch the new Adam Rocks at Geneva. Pitched as an ‘urban mini-crossover convertible’ the new car has a more chunky look compared to the supermini on which it is based.

We have known a Ferrari California Turbo was coming for quite a while with various disguised cars seen and heard in testing on road and track. Despite the hype this looks like an impressive step forward that makes an already exciting car even more appealing.

The Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG already has a fairly niche market – those who require a roadster with huge amounts power from a V12 engine but with the armchair comfort of a gentleman’s club. The trouble is those with yachts and private jets on hand often require something a little more discrete and that is where the new Brabus 800 comes in.

When we heard the rumours of an Range Rover Evoque Convertible a few months back we didn’t take them with much seriousness. A drop-top Rangie seemed a niche too far but the rumours were true and a completed concept car will be on show in Geneva in March.

The Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport has been the undisputed king of the convertible supercars for some time now and although the company has produced a long line of special editions we had assumed that the performance figures and number of well healed customers had peaked. Proving us quite wrong is the latest and greatest Veyron – the Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse.

Geneva is one of the biggest show of the motoring year and is often where we see the most new car launches. 2012 looks to be a particularly good year with a number of convertible cars being officially unveiled at the Swiss show.

SsangYong are considering whether to follow Nissan and explore the market for a Convertible Crossover. Their SsangYong XIV-2 Convertible concept will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March as a successor to the hard-top XIV concept shown just last year.
