Roadsters

Roadsters, sometimes referred to as spyders, spiders or speedsters are a distinct category of car.
They are focused on providing a driving experience rather than simply a means of transport. They are strictly two seater convertibles with a sporty, lightweight chassis and bags of character.

In the past roadsters were affordable, minimal cars with two seats, an engine and very little else but today’s buyer has demanded an increasing amount of luxuries. Engines were traditionally mounted up-front under a long bonnet but a number of notable exceptions are mid-engined without loosing the roadster spirit.

The roadster market is one that is not dominated by the big corporations. They may have produce some impressive cars but the some of the best roadsters come from the smaller, independent manufacturers.

However the most popular roadster of all time comes from Mazda. The MX5, Miata or Eunos (depending on your country) has span 20 years and sold in hundreds of thousands. It’s easy to understand why as it embodies the roadster spirit perfectly: An attractive, affordable car that’s a hoot to drive.
