The Daihatsu Copen has always been at the top of our list for value and fun but it has been around for a decade now so we have been keen to know what they will come up with next. The concept released at the Tokyo Motor Show can at least give us some ideas. Named the Daihatsu D-X (pronounced Dee Cross) it is a kind of tiny SUV/Roadster crossover.

Mazda have long been exponents of the Wankel rotary engine. Its ability to produce large amounts of power from a small, lightweight and high revving unit has always promised much but there have always been downsides.

Honda is set to unveil an electric convertible sports car concept at the Tokyo Motor Show in December. The design is not a fanciful dream of a car but looks like something that could be headed for production.

The 2012 Mini Roadster has been officially unveiled in another move to diversify the Mini brand. Unlike the standard Mini Convertible the emphasis is on performance with revised suspension and only two seats.

Jaguar is rumoured to be unveiling a roadster concept at the Frankfurt Motor show next month. The sports car is expected to be a two seater convertible that is smaller and cheaper than the flagship XK.

The rumours are strong of a new Porsche roadster to fit beneath the Boxster in the range. The new car will be based on Volkswagen’s BlueSport roadster platform which has been under development for some time.
The Boxster has been a massive success for Porsche bringing the brand mainstream success while boasting best-in-class handling and quality. 300,000 cars have now been sold on the Boxster/Caymen platform in 15 years and it’s still going strong.

A new road-going concept car developed by Toyota and Japan’s Gazoo Racing has been unveiled. The snappily named GRMN Sports Hybrid Concept II looks ready to go into production and indeed it will be racing at the Nürburgring 24-hour race this weekend.
